School Transformation Programme

We don't take over schools - we mentor the people who run them. Muktangan partners with government and NGO school clusters to build the capacity of teachers, leaders and communities, so change is owned by the school and lasts long after we leave.

Why We Work This Way

We proved public education can transform

Rather than simply opening more schools or scaling numbers, we choose to share what works - so change can take root across the wider system.

  • We build sustainable processes with stakeholders already inside the school
  • Improvements continue long after our exit - ownership stays local
  • Every project is backed by baseline, mid-line and end-line assessment

“We don't take over the schools. We mentor the people who run them.”

The Four Levers Of Transformation

A real, lasting change in a school needs more than one fix. We work on four connected levers together.

Curriculum and pedagogy
Lever 01

Curriculum & Pedagogy

Moving teachers from rote instruction to active, child-centred teaching - through subject-specific workshops, weekly curriculum design meetings, lesson planning and formative assessment, backed by in-classroom support.

Learning environments
Lever 02

Learning Environments

Helping schools build child-friendly classrooms and daily routines that make space for activity, interaction and individual attention - changing how the whole school day works, not just how rooms look.

Parent and community participation
Lever 03

Parent & Community Participation

We mentor schools to bring families in as partners - through orientation, dialogue and community events such as education fairs - so parents become active stakeholders in their children's learning.

School leadership
Lever 04

School Leadership

Working with head teachers and school leaders on processes to sustain and own the transformation - embedding participatory leadership practices that outlast our involvement.

Our Approach

How It Works

Designed to spread - and to last.

Cluster-Based. We work with clusters of schools within a district or municipal body - not one school in isolation - building a common vision across teachers, headmasters, parents and communities.

Whole School Approach. We encourage transformation in every section and area of the school so change is holistic and all-round, not confined to a single classroom.

Job-Embedded Learning. Curriculum Understanding, Design and Development (CUDD) sessions give teachers autonomy to Plan, Practice and Reflect on their own teaching-learning process.

On-Site Support. Classroom observation and live demonstrations turn workshop ideas into everyday practice, right inside the teacher's own classroom.

Measured. Baseline, mid-line and end-line assessments track a school's practices against clear parameters - so impact is visible, not assumed.

Transform Public Schools - From The Inside, For Good

Every school we work with keeps its own name, its own teachers and its own community - we just help it become the best version of itself.
