Infinite Possibilities
Life came a full circle for our alumni, Ms. Simran Patil when she came back to the very same place where she took her baby steps- Muktangan.
The school must be a child’s haven where they can thrive to their maximum potential. For Simran, her association with Muktangan and the memories of her school are etched in her heart forever. Sharing a piece of her childhood, she said-
“For a brief period of two years, when I was in Grade 2, I had to change my school. The strict and disciplinary measures I experienced in that school deeply impacted my mental health. I was so scared of going to school and afraid of learning that my family decided to approach Muktangan again.”
This traumatic childhood experience shattered her self-confidence and ability to face school. But the comforting and friendly environment in Muktangan completely transformed her as a person. For Simran, the activity-based learning methods and numerous exposure visits, film screenings, picnics and events made learning enjoyable again. This also led to her academic improvement and holistic development.
“I was not confident enough but the way my teachers supported me during that tough phase of my life assured me that I’m not alone. They helped me overcome my fears with kindness and compassion.”
If children are given the right learning environment in school, it goes a long way in helping them discover their interests and passion. Simran realized her inclination for drama and acting in school through all the holistic education opportunities. In Grade 7, she secured the first prize for ‘Best Actor for her dramatic performance. This was truly a cherry on the cake for her.
She strongly feels that her school has been instrumental in equipping her with the knowledge and skills to face the real world. After completing her SSC, she climbed the ladder of success. She completed her Bachelor’s in Management Studies from Bhavans College with Finance as a specialization. Along with academics, Simran was actively involved in a range of activities during her college years from participating in NSS, spreading awareness through street plays and volunteering for social service organizations.
“I love to try new things and multi-task. There are so many skills that I have been able to develop in IT, management, communication and research. The values I learnt in my school helped me navigate through challenging situations of life and remain grounded.”
After acquiring experience engaging with various Non-Governmental Organizations, Simran realized the need to share with her community all the skills she had learned. And what better place than her school! With a lot of conviction and determination to create a difference, she joined Muktangan as the Alumni Engagement Specialist to guide and help students explore diverse careers, and courses and hone their skills.
“The environment that my school created for me is exactly what I want to offer to other students through the responsibility I have been entrusted with. In today’s day and age, projects, presentations, research studies and internships are an integral component. Along with my team, I would like to mentor alumni in a friendly and comforting manner to map their career paths.”
Simran believes that she is always a learner. Along with her contribution to her school, she is also completing her M. Com from MD College and successfully running her small business in flower jewellery.
“Even after so many years, nothing has changed. I was and will always be a part of the Muktangan family.”
