Luis Miranda

CS_Luis-MirandaLuis founded IDFC Private Equity in 2002 and retired in 2010 to focus on not-for-profits in human rights, health and education. He is the chairman of the Centre for Civil Society, a trustee of the Society for Nutrition Education and Health Action (SNEHA), and a senior advisor to Morgan Stanley Infrastructure. He also sits on the advisory boards of the Booth School of Business, University of Chicago and St Xavier’s College, Mumbai. Luis received an MBA from the Chicago Booth and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He lives in Mumbai.

Suman Dasgupta

SumanThe desire to make a difference in the life of disadvantaged pushed Suman to leave his comfortable job of a Civil Engineer in Singapore and plunged into the world of development in India. Initially, he travelled extensively in India to understand the works done by various people including Anna Hazare. Soon realising that in order to “connect all these dots” he needed a formal education in an informal setting. He joined the world’s 1st ranking NGO BRAC in Bangladesh in 2003 that runs a NGO management programme in collaboration with World Learning, USA.

Subsequently, he also did his political study at MIT School of Government, Pune and finally Masters in Public Administration from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore. All these times he was also serving a grassroots organization in Uttar Pradesh and was also in Sierra Leone, the poorest country, for a short time. Understanding that advocacy is the heart of all the developmental works he joined Greenpeace in 2007, followed by Wada Na Todo Abhioyan which does people-centred advocacy and have managed to reach people in the villages on one hand and the international policy arena through its association with Global Call To Action against Poverty. “If there is anything that we lack today is quality leadership” and to make his dream of creating future leaders he joined Muktangan Education in 2011 which runs an innovative child-centred model in 7 Municipal schools and a teacher Education centre in Mumbai. After working in Muktangan for about 3 years he joined TESS India, a project of UK Open University to improve quality of school education, as West Bengal State Representative, and moved to Kolkata, his home town.

Rama A. Iyer

Rama A. Iyer is the Founder, Director of White Kettle Rama Iyer imageConsulting Pvt. Ltd, a firm that partners Corporates, Government and Civil Society in developing CSRPolicies and Strategy. Rama has been Identified among ‘15 Emerging Leaders in India’ in the social Sector -2013, by Dishaa a platform initiated by The British Prime Minister David Cameron. Advisory panel Member to World CSR Congress, she has also been nominated ‘Expert Trainer CSR’ by the Dutch Government (CBI- External Affairs Ministry) and has partnered The Government of Netherlands jointly with “FICCI- Aditya Birla CSR Center of Excellence” in training and guiding CSR consultants in developing CSR strategies for Indian SMEs and exporters with special focus on European market.

Rama has also partnered Indian State level Governments in Evaluating, Developing and Advising them in creating IEC (Information, Education and Communication) material for interventions related to Health, Hygiene, Gender, Nutrition and Skill development and The British Asian Trust, a UK registered charity of The Prince’s Charities. Rama has partnered corporates like Unilever, ICICI, Star TV, Bloomberg, Pepsi , Nestle, Emerson Electrical, TFK (tobacco Free Kids) a Michael Bloomberg forum , Synergos, Civil Society like UNICEF, Bhavishya Alliance, GAIN (Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition) in developing CSR and social development strategies. A speaker in Industry forums like FICCI, The CSR Academy, World CSR Day, Common Purpose- Leadership Program, Dasra among others, she has also been a panel judge for TRRAIN- the first ever retail service awards. Rama also actively mentors social entrepreneurs in their CSR strategies at an individual level and as a Panel member of Whiteboard. With a background in advertising and communication strategy, Rama has over 16 years of work experience. In her previous assignment as Senior Vice President – Strategic Planning Asia Pacific for Lintas, she handled clients like Unilever, ICICI. She has previously worked with Ogilvy Advertising, and set up her own dot com company and has experience in brand building across advertising, direct marketing, online communication and media. Rama has schooled in Cathedral and John Connon School Mumbai and then gone on to St. Xaviers College, Mumbai to do her Masters in Economics. 

JM Trivedi

Jm is based in Mumbai and heads South Asia operationsmktc247i of Actis, an emerging markets private equity firm which spun out of UK based CDC in 2004. Actis invests in midmarket control/buyout and growth capital deals.  Jm joined CDC in 1997 to establish its private equity operations out of its Mumbai office. He was one of the founding partners when Actis spun out of CDC in 2004. Prior to joining CDC Jm was Sr. vice president of GVFL, one of the first VC firms in India. He has led a number of marquee deals in the PE market in India including UTI Bank, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and Paras pharmaceuticals. Jm has worked in financial services industry in India for more than 35 years. Jm graduated in Chemical Engineering from IIT-Bombay in 1975.
